Bethesda, Md. – A former contractor, Robert “Bob” Weaver, brings thirty years of experience in the finishing industry to his new role as the National Finishing Contractors Association (FCA) Regional Vice President for the eastern region. Weaver, who succeeds Jay Weaver (no relation), began employment on April 12, 2010, at FCA. “In looking for a Vice President, we were searching for someone who understands the everyday challenges of being a contractor,” FCA CEO Stuart Binstock said. Weaver is no stranger to the unionized segment of the construction industry. Prior to joining FCA, he was the president and CEO of a union drywall company. He also held a position as a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) drywall finishing curriculum committee. “Weaver understands what contractors need from their national association,” said Binstock. “Weaver’s 15 years of experience as a drywall contractor will come in handy as he works with prospective and current FCA contractors to explain the value of our association and to learn what new products and services are needed to increase our effectiveness.” Most recently, Weaver headed up the Contract Servicing Corporation for Ames Taping Tool Systems, Inc., where he put together a marketing strategy that solidified a $5 million market with 60 direct reports. He successfully penetrated the greater Metro New York area by promoting and improving production and lowering the cost to union contractors, while working in conjunction with the local district council, training center, and drywall association. “My goal is to work with the local affiliates and potential associations to show them the value of their FCA membership,” said Weaver. “As a veteran to both the labor and management sides of the industry, I will draw on those experiences to relate to, and build long-lasting relationships with, FCA’s current and future contractor members.”In announcing Weaver’s appointment, Binstock said that he is confident Weaver will work effectively with FCA contractors, local affiliates, and the IUPAT to strengthen the delivery of FCA services.
